Usage Tips for DermaQuell Skincare Products
Brief product description:
Whipped, light, quickly absorbed cream perfect for daily use. Daily Butter is literally the perfect super light, refreshing blend of botanicals that quickly absorb + nourish your skin. It can be used as a facial moisturizer, on your body, or even for “lightly” dry patches that need a little love.
This product is offers balanced skin moisturization while delivering the perfect blend of hydration + emollient protection. It’s rich with nutrients, but is light enough to moisturize + absorbs quickly.
Usage tips:
Daily Butter can be used on the face or body (but avoid the eye area) on clean skin. It can be used as a base layer, or can be used as a standalone everyday moisturizer.
- Pea-sized amount for the face
- Blueberry-sized amount for hands
- Dime-sized amount for feet
- Nickel-to-quarter-sized amount for each arm, torso
- Quarter-to-half dollar-sized amount for each leg
- Pea-sized or less for smaller areas of dry, flaky, scaly, rashed areas
As a standalone moisturizer, apply it to the face or body after cleansing or showering/bathing. Wait for it to absorb before applying clothing. Can be reapplied throughout the day if necessary or can be used as your main face + body moisturizer morning and night. This might be enough moisture for you if your skin is oily, not too dry, you live in a humid environment, it’s summer, etc. If not, you may need to add an extra layer of emollient protection with Nourish Butter.
Apply a base layer to areas that are rough, scaly, dry, flaky, sensitive, or itchy to hydrate the area before applying either the Nourish Butter or Z+ Rebuilder. For example–if you struggle with dry, chapped hands, apply Daily Butter first, then apply Nourish Butter or Z+ Rebuilder on top. Cover with organic/unbleached cotton gloves for protection if needed/possible.
For rough/scaly/dry/flaky patches, apply a layer of Daily Butter to the area. Follow with Nourish Butter or Z+ Rebuilder. Cover the area with gauze, organic/unbleached cotton or muslin strips, or other appropriate dressing.
Brief product description:
Luxurious, rich, thick emollient-style, salve-like butter for extra dry skin. When your skin’s desperately thirsty, Nourish Butter offers soothing, thicker coverage to support your skin with maintaining hydration. Nourish Butter is our simplest formula with limited botanicals perfect for soothing + nourishing your skin.
This rich, emollient salve is perfect for cracked + dried out rashes that need nighttime nourishment with hemp oil, shea butter + St. John’s Wort extract!
The consistency of this product is more of a nourishing, oily salve rather than a light cream that will quickly disappear. That’s because the ingredients in this are helping to maintain the moisture of your skin.
Usage tips:
Nourish Butter is designed to remain on the surface of the skin for a longer time compared to Daily Butter to fortify the skin’s barrier + seal in moisture. It is safe to use on the face + body (avoid the eye area), and is best used as a second/Step 2 layer. You will be able to feel it on the surface of the skin, but it should not appear shiny/greasy after some of it absorbs.
For best results + optimum hydration, first apply Daily Butter. Then apply a small amount of Nourish Butter on top BEFORE the Daily Butter fully absorbs:
- Pea-sized amount for the face
- Blueberry-sized amount for hands
- Dime-sized amount for feet
- Nickel-to-quarter-sized amount for each arm, torso
- Quarter-to-half dollar-sized amount for each leg
- Pea-sized or less for smaller areas of dry, flaky, scaly, rashed areas
If the product absorbs too quickly, you may need to apply another light layer, or cover with fabric/dressing.
If the product does not seem to absorb at all, or feels extremely greasy on the skin for longer than an hour, you may have applied too much. Try applying half the amount and see how that feels.
If applying to a large area, wait a few minutes for it to absorb a bit before getting dressed, because if you dress too soon, the oils in the product could stain clothing (this can also happen if you apply too much).
If applying to an extremely dry, flaky, scaly, rashed area, cover with gauze or unbleached cotton/muslin strips (or other appropriate dressing) to protect clothing and keep the product on the skin longer.
If applying to hands or feet, cover with unbleached/organic white cotton or bamboo gloves or socks to keep product on the skin longer.
Z+ Rebuilder can be applied on top of Nourish Butter on any extremely dry, flaky, scaly, rashed areas before covering with fabric, dressing, gloves, socks.
If Nourish Butter leaves an oil stain on clothing or fabric, follow these instructions to remove the stain:
- Wear gloves if you have any areas of concern on your hands.
- Blot out as much of the oil stain as possible with dry paper towels or reusable cleaning cloths.
- Apply dish soap vigorously to the area with fingers or a toothbrush to loosen the oils from the fabric.
- Sprinkle aluminum-free baking soda or arrowroot powder onto the area and continue scrubbing with fingers or toothbrush until the powdery paste starts to dry. Set it aside for an hour.
- Soak in hot water until water cools, then launder regularly.
- Allow to air dry the first time to make sure stain is gone.
Brief product description:
Supportive butter perfect for cracked, angry skin with added zinc! Z+ Rebuilder is a great option to support + rebuild cracked, angry and dry skin. With added zinc, this nourishing cream is made with a combination of skin-calming botanicals.
This amazing spot treatment with ZINC is an excellent addition to your routine to help support skin rebuilding along with jojoba oil, calendula, lavender + rosehip seed oil.
And even though the product contains zinc oxide, it has not been tested or approved for use as a sunscreen.
Usage tips:
A little goes a long way and is best combined with Nourish Butter, another oil or moisturizer since the product is not a moisturizer on its own, and if applied alone, it could feel drying. Z+ Rebuilder is a spot treatment, designed to add a nourishing and protective barrier layer to super-dry, angry, flaky, scaly areas. It is NOT meant to be used as an overall face or body moisturizer.
Apply ½ a pea-sized amount to the affected area, as a final layer of protection either over Daily Butter or Nourish Butter (or both, if the area is extremely dry and compromised). Cover the area with unbleached/organic cotton or muslin fabric, cotton or bamboo gloves or socks for best results.
Because the product contains zinc oxide, it may leave a white, opaque appearance on the skin.
Because zinc oxide may stain clothing, it is best to apply unbleached/organic cotton or muslin fabric, cotton or bamboo gloves or socks over Z+ Rebuilder.
If you get a zinc oxide stain on clothing or bed linens, try the following to remove it:
Alternative methods for oil stains or zinc oxide stains:
- Wear gloves if you have any areas of concern on your hands.
- Blot out as much of the oil stain as possible with dry paper towels or reusable cleaning cloths.
- Spray alcohol on the stain and run it under cold water, adding in more alcohol as needed.
- OR use white vinegar. Rub the item with dish soap and water first, either with your fingers or an old clean toothbrush. Then soak it in a 50/50 solution of white vinegar and water for 30 minutes. Launder as usual after that.
- Allow to air dry the first time to make sure stain is gone.
